He is 186 centimetres tall and strong as a bear. But behind the slightly austere facade hides a shy and gentle person who is friendly, even.
Right now know the whole Denmark the 41-year-old Swedish Fares Fares for his role as Carl M Assistant Assad in ' the woman in the cage ', and he is already today topical in the second film in the series, namely ' Pheasant dræberne '. Fares Fares has further signed two more films in the series. So about 3-4 years is the big Swede, one of the most famous faces in Denmark, if the movies continue to have so much success that they have.

Close to saying no to the roleBut in fact, it was the busy Fares Fares just by saying "no, thank you" to the role. After the international success in the u.s. film ' Zero Dark Thirty ' and ' Safe House ' as well as the television series Tyrant was the calendar for full.
-But when I heard that I was going to play opposite Nikolaj Lie Kaas, and that it was Zentropa, which stood behind the four movies, I ended up saying yes thanks for the role, says Fares Fares to Ekstra Bladet and adds:
And I have not regretted one second. There has been an incredibly good chemistry between me and Nikolaj Lie Kaas right from the start. And it is, of course, extremely important, because both the books and the films are built around cooperation between Carl Mørck and Assad.

Hard to speak DanishWhat has been the most challenging playing Assad?
-It has been the Danish language. When I got the role, they said, that I should speak Danish. And I thought, Oh Shit. How will it go, says Fares Fares and adds:
-But before we recorded ' the woman in the cage ', I took an intensive course in two months in Danish. And Nikolaj Lie Kaas is really good to learn from it, when I slip around a bit in the words.
How do you want with your own words describe your character Assad?
-He is a type who fight for justice. He believes first and foremost on the goodness of man. But of course, he knows that there are plenty of evil in the world. And so he is a very secretive person with many layers. He has a hidden past that not many know about.

Why do you think that the Assad-nature continues to like Carl M, even though he often is very angry and sour?
-Assad sees a bit of himself as a person who will save humanity. And if he can save Carl M, so he can save anyone.
In ' Pheasant ' is the nature dræberne Rose entered the field. What does this mean for your character, that all of a sudden has come an additional person with in your interaction with Carl M?
-Assad is happy that there has been a female Assistant in Department Q. This means, of course, that he can make more real police work on the streets. He needs Rose. And it's also good with a little female energy in the dark basement.
Familiar face in Denmark' The woman in the cage ' was the year's most-watched films last year with 730 000 spectators, and ' Pheasant dræberne ' will be also allegedly the most watched movie of the year. Have you thought about the fact that you are actually a very familiar face in Denmark. Everyone knows whom Assad is, and how he looks?
-No, I have not thought so much of. But after ' Pheasant dræberne ' I think that I will notice it more when I walk on the streets in Denmark. Right now I can for example. see myself on posters for the film all over Copenhagen.
