Formerly known as the Greta Garbo and Ingrid Bergman. Since the name was Max von Sydow, Stellan Skarsgård, Peter Stormare, Lena Olin, Dolph Lundgren, Maud Adams and Britt Ekland. Today the name is Alexander Skarsgard, Joel Kinnaman, Alicia Vikander, Noomi Rapace, Gustaf Skarsgård, Helena Mattsson and Malin Akerman. We're talking of course about the Swedish actor who managed to become a name in Hollywood. And one of the hottest names to add to the list is Matias Varela as most know as Jorge in "fast cash" and "Fast Cash II". He has just finished filming the TV series "The Borgias" where he played opposite Jeremy Irons, which can be seen as a first step towards success outside Sweden.
- People ask if I should move to the U.S. now. No, I just bought a house that I barely had time to stay in. I like to work in Sweden. My aim is rather to work with talented people. I'm glad I get to work as an actor at all. Four years ago I was a construction worker in Kista, so all of that is a bonus. Can I go to the USA when I take off my hat and thank you for the opportunity, says a modest Matias Varela.
But hand on heart. Are you our next Hollywood star?
- Yes, it is very possible that it will be so, he admits finally.
- I've got a nice feeling here and there. The industry seems to like me and I do not know why that is, but of course it is fun, says Matias Varela.
He says that his Hollywood agent sends the script to him sometimes. When asked about plans for 2013, he is secretive.Instead, we talk about dreams. Matias Varela dream to work with, among others, Christopher Nolan, which he terms as his household gods, and remove directors such as Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola.
On the other side of the Atlantic is not just dreams. There is also his best friend Gustaf Skarsgård, who he got to know the 13-year-old in Eriksdalsskolan in Stockholm.
- I was his poor friend, says Matias Varela.
Today Gustaf great support in the relatively new career as an actor. His career started a bit disappointing year in 2000 with a role in the soap opera "New Times". But because he was "förjävla awkward" so he got fired. Ten years later, the breakthrough came with "fast cash" and the role of Chilean Jorge.
- The role that Jorge is the most important thing I've played. We have very little in common and I have to work so much with him.Turning to Chilean Spanish is that you would go around and talk Skåne. The role that Jorge has given me the life I live now.

I had to get a few friends on one of my more disreputable firearms boards to ID this. Consensus is :AK5 = Swedish military contract version of the FN FNC... Minor Swedish Govt modifications to meet their specifications...If you saw the movie "Heat", that was the rifle Al Pacino used in the Bank Robbery scene. So yes - Jorge is well equipped for some mayhem!
