This first image has arrived online from the Heyday Films and BBC Films adaptation of Vera Brittain’s iconic and powerful WW1 memoir, ‘Testament Of Youth.’ The stellar cast includes Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Joanna Scanlan, Hayley Atwell, Jonathan Bailey, Alexandra Roach, and Anna Chancellor.
Alicia Vikander plays the iconic writer, feminist and pacifist, Vera Brittain, and Kit Harington plays Roland Leighton, Brittain’s fiancé. Vikander recently completed Alex Garland’s ‘Ex Machina’ and Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ ‘Testament Of Youth’ is directed by James Kent (The Thirteenth Tale, The White Queen) and produced by David Heyman (Gravity, the Harry Potter movies, Paddington) and Rosie Alison (Paddington, The Thirteenth Tale) for Heyday Films.
Award-winning writer Juliette Towhidi adapted the screenplay from Britain’s searing story of love and war, which was first published in 1933. In Towhidi’s script Vera, irrepressible, intelligent and free-minded, overcomes the prejudices of her family and hometown to win a scholarship to Oxford. With everything to live for, she falls in love with her brother’s brilliant friend Roland Leighton as they go to University to pursue their literary dreams.
But the First World War is looming and as the boys leave for the front Vera realises she cannot sit idly by as her peers fight for their country, so volunteers as a nurse and sets off for France.
‘Testament of Youth’ is expected to open later this year. Source: The Film Stage.

After a week transforming Norwich Cathedral’s cloister into a setting for 17th century drama Tulip Fever, filming was last night set to begin.
And as filming was due to begin last night some final additions to the set were brought into the cloister – two cows, some geese and some pigs.
Set in 17th century Amsterdam, Tulip Fever is based on the novel by Deborah Moggach, who also penned the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
The book has been adapted for cinema by Tom Stoppard and the film features an impressive cast including Dame Judi Dench (Philomena), Alicia Vikander (Anna Karenina), Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained), Holliday Grainger (Bonnie and Clyde), Jack O’Connell (300: Rise of an Empire), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Matthew Morrison (Glee), Tom Hollander (Rev.), Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina) and Cressida Bonas.
Justin Chadwick, the film’s director, previously directed The Other Boleyn Girl and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Ruby Films’ Alison Owen (Saving Mr Banks) is producing the project with Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company, and Bob Weinstein is executive producing.
The Tulip Fever film company is expected to be at Norwich Cathedral until June 25, and filming for Tulip Fever is also taking place at locations in Suffolk, Essex, Kent and at Pinewood Studios.

EXCLUSIVE: Swedish actress Alicia Vikanderis getting two roles that all the brightest young actresses have been trying for. She is closing a deal to star with Michael Fassbender in the Derek Cianfrance-directed adaptation of the M.L. Stedman novel The Light Between Oceans for DreamWorks. At the same time, I hear that she is the choice of The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper to star opposite his Les Miserables guy Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl for Working Title. Her reps are right now working out the details so that Vikander can go from one film right into the other starting in the fall.
Vikander is the latest thesp in a lot of Scandinavian talent to break on these shores. Raised in Stockholm, Vikander began as a dancer before turning to acting. She’s gorgeous, but she is no overnight discovery; she has earned her way to this place. Her breakout roles were the Foreign Language Oscar-nominated Nikolaj Arcel-directed A Royal Affair, and co-starring in Anna Karenina, another Working Title production. Upcoming, Vikander stars opposite Ewan McGregor in Son Of A Gun, and is currently starring alongside Dane DeHaan and Christoph Waltz in the Justin Chadwick-directed 17th century love story Tulip Fever. She also stars in Testament Of Youth for BBC Films, which just wrapped, and opposite Oscar Isaac in the Alex Garland-directed Ex Machina and in the studio films The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Seventh Son.
