Renck ger av sin briljans till sitt hemland och jag kan inte annat än
jubla. Hans gangsterdrama är snyggt, spännande, skruvat och har en helt
fantastisk ensemble, den som sticker ut mest är Gustaf Skarsgård som

I immediately thought of three anecdotes when I read all the commentary.
1. Joel Kinnaman said one of his big accomplishments in Snabba Cash was slipping from accent to accent based upon the various groups of Swedes who JW was with. He regretted that non-Swedes would not notice what he felt was his best accomplishment in the movie. There’s the one scene at the party at the country home where we non-Swedes can kind of tell what a big deal accent is. JW is off by himself practicing his upper class Swedish speech.
2. When Joel first appeared in Season 1 of The Killing, I remember some Swede constantly commenting on how poor Joel’s American accent was. People from the USA kept responding that he sounded just fine to them, and this guy would argue about it! They also kept saying that people in the USA are accustomed to all kinds of accents, and wouldn’t notice if Kinnaman had a ‘poor’ accent anyway. That seemed incomprehensible to this Swede.
3. Finally, the Swedes are just too hard on themselves. Maybe that's what makes them such great actors, though. From http://www.svd.se/kultur/kinnaman-nara-knackas-av-robocop_8954940.svd
Gary Oldman who in addition to the role in "Robocop" also plays against Joel Kinnaman in Daniel Espinosa's upcoming film "Child 44" - is impressed with the Swedish film wave. Swedish actors are damn talented and have an amazing ear for languages and accents, he says. They're more versatile than most other nationalities and can play everything from British to Russians to Americans. Sweden seems to be the part of the world where actors can capture the tone of almost all other languages. I have not seen it anywhere else, he says.
