Season four of History Channel's periodical drama series, "Vikings," will see the clash between the families of Rollo and Ragnar.
After the successful quest in Paris, Rollo stayed behind for a fixed marriage with Emperor Charles's daughter Gisla, while Ragnar was heavily wounded. The latter's son Bjorn may start a war when the former betrayed his father and sided with France in exchange for loyalty and power.
Alexander Ludwig who plays Bjorn mentioned previously that his character loves his uncle but his betrayal has severed their connection, "He's so hurt and he's going to kill him. In his eyes, there's certain things you can't forgive. Bjorn is so straight-edge in that when he makes a decision, he sticks to it."
Showrunner Michael Hirst also revealed that the repercussions of Rollo's betrayal will be dire, "If he does this, this time — it's a second betrayal, but it's a much bigger betrayal. He's been promised huge amounts of land and the title and a bride and everything... he's going to want to make that work. He's going to want to prove that this is what the gods meant."
Meanwhile, with Ragnar healing from being physically hurt in the first siege, some speculate that he may give up his throne and pass on the supremacy to Bjorn his rightful heir as he is the Prince of Denmark and the first-born son.
Master Herald reports that the succession may not be peaceful and easy with Bjorn's brother attempting to claim the authority in Kattegat for their own. Among them, Ivar the Boneless is predicted to retaliate. Ivar is Ragnar's fourth son from Princess Aslaug who is his second wife.
In other news, to help viewers as they wait for the new season, the show is releasing the official Vikings companion book on November 10. It includes behind-the-scene stories of the cast and the real Norse culture, history and religion.
Pre-orders are now being accepted.

Ragnar’s sons in season 4 promo.
From these gifs, we can assume the trip back to Kattegat took some
time as Ragnar’s sons seem to be around the age Björn was in season 1.
From another promo, we know that Björn takes a walk in the woods and
meets a bear, I guess the winter gifs are from that event. I also guess
Björn meeting a bear when his name means bear will be some kind of
spiritual thing as well.
But where is that boat going? Back to France or somewhere else? And
how can Floki be at that waterfall where we see Hvitserk (or is it
Ubbe?) when we know Ragnar puts him in chains? If it wasn’t for Floki
wearing pelts, I would assume it was travelling to that cave where he is
chained, but as he was chained almost naked in the snow, I don’t think
they would bother making him comfortable or warm getting there.
